Hi all, I was just wondering if any of you use actual spreads when doing Tarot readings?,
personally myself I tend not too, I just find I let the cards either jump out and lay them out, I then sort of scan the cards seeing what they are meaning, should I see that more information is needed I then re-shuffle the deck asking for an outcome to the situation.
I would love to see what sort of spreads you use and the meaning behind it, so please feel free to share .
I find spreads add a structure to the reading, especially when first starting out with tarot. It makes it easier yo get the card inyo context if it has a fixed position.
I have a few spreads in my tarot arsenal. I do like to read a modified Celtic Cross and I also like to design spreads.
My issue is that, even with the Celtic Cross, I jump back and forward between cards to either support the information I receive or that dispel it.

Hi 55 thank you for your reply, I shall maybe have to have a bash at some spreads and see how I get on, I have done the Celtic spread on a few occasions. I will let you know how I get on .
I'm happy to post some spreads for people here to play around with. I have a notebook to write down spreads I find online and I have gathered quite a few.

I tend to go between the two, depending on my mood. I seem to go through phases of trying out different spreads but the problem I have is I can never remember them! That's when I revert to "no spread" spreads.

There's no harm in 'cheating'. This is part of a large spread I'm trying to master and I do this:-
I lay them out in the spread pattern, then I put the tarot cards on top leaving the position explanation visible. It makes it easier to start learning the spread and remembering what each card position is.
It's more of a hack than a cheat. I mastered the Celtic Cross the same way and now I don't think twice about what each position is.

Ooooooh, what a brilliant idea! How big are the cards you made up? It's hard to tell from the pic.

6 inches by 2 inches. It was craft card I had lying around. Honestly, it's a great learning method. You could also write more info on the backs of them too, things like "If this supports card 4, then it means ........" I'm a visual learner and utilise mind maps a lot, so this feeds in to that I think.

I couldn't wait until Sunday. I'd probably forget to do the spread anyway. Time's fluid anyway, so ... meh ...
Game of Thrones Tarot - Liz Dean
1. Think, what should I be giving thought to? Ace of Spears 2. Do, what action needs to be taken? Four of Cups 3. Challenge, what obstacle am I facing this week? Justice 4. Ally, what or who can assist me this week? Temperance
When I look at these cards, there's a definite feel to it. I need to give thought to something new that will excite me, instead of sitting in the corner eating worms because nobody likes me. There's possibilities around but I need to have the right attitude. Talking of which, Justice makes me think that I'll be feeling that things aren't going my way, when in reality, it's my own fault. It will be a help if I get over myself or it (whichever the case may be) and knuckle down. Put in the work, if I want the rewards. [img][/img]
